Styrian Wine: The Champions of the region 2013

Last week the top wines of the Styrian region were awarded. More than 500 winemakers presented 1551 Styrian wines. In 18 different categories (meaning different wine varieties) prizes were awarded.

The winners in the most important categories categories are:
·         Sparkling wine: Winery Weber
·         Schilcher (a typical Styrian variety): Winery Patrick Niggas
·         Welschriesling: Winery Gründl –Labuttendorf
·         Pinot Blanc Classic: Winery Ulrich
·         Morillon Classic: Peter Skoff – Demesne Kranachberg
·         Sauvignon Blanc Classic: Winery Family Sauer
·         Yellow Muscatel: Winery Adam-Lieleg


Winery Rupert Ulrich was the most successful competitor with awards for three wines (Pinot Blanc Classic, Site Wine Burgundy, rich Blauer Zweigelt). The winery has also won the award for the best wine yard.The Wine village 2013 is St. Anna am Aigen.
